Montenegro converted its official currency to the Euro in 2002, despite not yet being a member of the EU. Most banks have foreign currency exchange offices so changing money is relatively easy. However, not all banks will change travellers cheques. Credit cards are becoming more widely used but should not be relied on everywhere as cash is still preferred in many places. ATM’s are available in most towns.
