Montenegro, also known as Crna Gora – ‘Black Mountain’, lies in the southern Balkan Peninsula at the south of the Adriatic Sea, and has borders to Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Albania. In addition it borders Serbia with whom it proclaimed itself as the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro in 2003, after the disintegration of the former Yugoslavia. However, these two States may in the future break away into separate countries as talks are already in progress with this in mind.
